Krauthammer’s Take: We Need to Help the Free Syrian Army Topple Assad

Charles Krauthammer dismissed concerns that Syria is turning into a proxy war with Russia, saying tonight on Special Report that America since WWII has fought “a dozen proxy wars with the Russians” and yet, ”we did not go to war with Russia.”

Unlike in Ukraine, where the administration is avoiding supplying even defensive weapons for fear of igniting a larger proxy war, Krauthammer credited the administration for sending the Free Syrian Army anti-tank missiles.

“These are the few people on the ground who could topple Assad, or at least resist him,” Krauthammer said. “And we ought to support them; and if we do it with anti-tank weapons, we ought to continue.”
