A Bad Week for Kyrsten Sinema

The Democratic Senate nominee in Arizona has long been considered the favorite to win the seat that Jeff Flake (R.) is giving up. In the last few days, however, damaging quotes from Sinema’s past have resurfaced–quotes in which she says her state had become “crazy” and “the meth lab of democracy” (a play on the saying that states are “the laboratories of democracy”). CNN is reporting on her “past ties to far-left groups.” The odds may need to be recalculated.

And not just in Arizona. Democrats are looking less and less competitive in the Senate races in North Dakota and Tennessee. Ted Cruz is pulling further ahead in Texas–in fact, the Republican challenger to Jon Tester, Matt Rosendale, is behind by less than Beto O’Rourke is.

The Senate is slipping further and further out of Democrats’ reach.
