Lady Thatcher’s Funeral, and Forthcoming Biography

Cynthia Crawford, Margaret Thatcher’s longtime assistant, reports that arrangements for her funeral are complete but will take time to finalize. Look for the memorial service to take place in about ten days’ time.

Meanwhile, the London publisher Allen Lane says the first volume of Thatcher’s authorized biography, Margaret Thatcher: The Authorized Biography, Volume One: Not for Turning, will be published immediately after her funeral. She cooperated with Charles Moore, the former editor of the Daily Telegraph, on her memoirs, on the condition that they not be published while she was alive. She did not read the manuscript.

I think it’s safe to say the book is likely to achieve instant bestseller status on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Sliming of Bari Weiss

If you follow at all the ideological war that’s erupted around the New York Times editorial page, then you know Bari Weiss. It’s too much to call Bari conservative. A better description might be heterodox. On some issues, particularly social issues and immigration, she’s a woman of the Left. On others — ... Read More
