And while it may be that a Democratic party with no room for a Joe Lieberman will be less successful than a party with room for one, it’s not completely obvious that this is so. At the end of the day, most Democrats and most Connecticut voters are against the Iraq war. Why is it so terrible for them to want a senator who agrees with them?
