LaPierre to Blumenthal: I’ll Bet You Gun Prosecutions Don’t Rise Under Obama

During today’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on guns, NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre challenged Connecticut senator Richard Blumenthal to a bet intended to highlight the lack of federal enforcement of current gun laws. “You know what the problem, senator, is that I’ve been up here on this Hill for 20-some years agreeing to [more criminal gun prosecutions] and nobody does it,” LaPierre said. “I will make you this bet right now: When President Obama leaves office four years from now, his prosecutions will not be much different than they are now.”
