A lawsuit waiting to happen

Ahead of my trip to Louisiana, I was just wondering when the ACLU is going to figure out that Louisiana’s flag is a blatant Christian symbol from Medieval times, included in St. Thomas Aquinas’s hymn, Adoro Te Devote. As one Catholic blogger explains:

The pelican is said to feed its young with blood from its own breast, if there is no other food available. Jesus is likened to the pelican, giving us His Body and Blood in sacramental form.

Notice the pelican with its arms outstretched in the manner of Christ, and the three drops of blood. The relevant verse of St. Thomas’s hymn goes as follows:

Pie pelicane, Iesu Domine

Me imundum munda tuo sanguine

Cuius una stilla salvum facere

Totum mundum quit ab omni scelere.

Loose translation: “Lord Jesus, good pelican, wash me, an unclean man, with your blood, one drop of which is enough to rid the entire world of all evil.”

Looks like theocracy to me! I’m offended!
