When my now 17-year-old son was a few years younger, he was a huge fan of “A Series of Unfortunate Events”. I recall being in my office one morning and hearing that Lemony Snicket was going to be interviewed on some NPR show. I enlisted the aid of co-workers in tracking down a cassette and a recording device so that I could save it for him to hear when he got home from school.
What a waste of time! He is a garden-variety sneering leftist who apparently aspires to get booked by Garrison Keillor on his show or fawned over by the reviewers at The Nation. Lesson (re-)learned: you can like an artist’s output, but that doesn’t mean you will like the artist. He came off as a first-class jerk.
