Let the Hucklight In

From an e-mail:

whatever the political calculations, do y’all really doubt that Huckabee, the Baptist minister, believes what he said in that ad about Christmas? If he believes it, why shouldn’t he say it? It’s a principle he believes in, and for all the criticism, I haven’ t heard a whole lot of accusation that Huckabee is unprincipled, only that his principles lead him to unconservative positions and policies that could be harmful to the country. So just reject his particular principles and him as a candidate, but don’t demand that he “soften” them or accuse him of being “divisive” when drawing bright lines around himself.
