Let’s Make a Deal

Jonah referred earlier to an AP story on the bipartisan Senate group of six working on some kind of health-care deal. The New York Times has a longer story on the same subject, and once again, the Gray Lady has demonstrated her added value, by identifying the snacks that are on the table during the senators’ discussions.

From a policy perspective, the piece is mostly good news, as it lists a number of problematic provisions that the senators have chosen to reject, including a government-run plan, and the high-earner income surtax. The piece is a little less clear on what has been included thus far, but at least they appear to be moving away from the unworkable House approach.
