My new Bloomberg View column takes on the idea that the way forward on tax reform is to broaden the tax base. Some tax breaks should be scaled back or eliminated–the deduction for state and local taxes is at the top of my list–but most of the biggest tax breaks should stay in the code, and some of them (like the ones for saving and investment) should be expanded.
