Lib Dem MP Tweets: ‘If I Lived in Gaza,’ I’d Probably Fire a Rocket

A Liberal Democrat member of Britain’s parliament is facing disciplinary action after a second public remark backing Hamas rocket attacks on Israel.

British MP David Ward tweeted the following Tuesday:

The Guardian reports that the Liberal Democrats, the junior party in Britain’s governing coalition, say the party “utterly condemns” his remarks, and a spokesman for the party said Ward will be subject to disciplinary proceedings.

The chairman of the Conservative party, which runs a coalition government with the Lib Dems, said that Ward should withdraw his “appalling” comments, according to BBC. “No MP should tweet what’s essentially incitement to violence,” he said. “Completely irresponsible.”

Last July, Ward tweeted, ”Am I wrong or are am I right? At long last the Zionists are losing the battle — how long can the apartheid State of Israel last?” He was suspended from his party for the statement, and restored in September.
