The Liberal Project, Wave Two: Rights that Aren’t Rights

Today on Uncommon Knowledge, Dr. Charles Kesler, professor of government at Claremont McKenna College and editor of the Claremont Review of Books, on the second wave of liberalism, which he terms “economic liberalism.”

A right to a job, a right to health care, a right to a home, a right to an education.  [During the New Deal] all these things became as fundamental to liberals as the rights to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
