Lieberman on the Tax Deal: ‘The Votes Are There’

The Obama administration and supporters of the tax deal in the Senate seem to be settling in on a strategy of fake-it-til-you-make-it in order to create a sense of inevitability about the measure’s passage. Here’s Senator Lieberman (I., Conn.):

“I repeat, the votes are there; enough votes are there to pass this,” he said, adding that the package will come up for a vote “maybe by the weekend.”

Jennifer Rubin has more on whether the deal can hold together, including a quote from an anonymous Republican insider who says Senator DeMint’s opposition “doesn’t pass the laugh test.”
