A few quick apologies. First, I repeated the fake news that the new pope has been a Cubs fan. Please check on Charlie Camosy, who I talked with right after the Pope Leo XIV news came out, but before his brother John corrected the baseball record. Oh, what fun it will be to have a pope from the U.S. with two living brothers. I’m not sure Cardinal Dolan was eager to see how that would play out in the unlikely event he wound up as pope.
Also, I’ve been jumping on radio and TV and writing and things. And between it all, I’ve essentially been using my X feed — @KathrynLopez — as a liveblog, because it requires fewer steps than here. Mea culpa.
