What Should a Christmas Cookie Look Like?

I know a little boy in Norway — four years old. His father is robustly pro-American and pro-Western. A true Reaganite and Thatcherite (Scandinavian version). He sent me a photo of his child cutting out cookies. The child is wearing a Christmas-red sweater. The cookies are in the shape of an F-35. (This is a fighter jet, in whose development Norway is participating.)

As I said to the dad, I’ve never seen a more heartwarming photo. Ann Arbor would recoil in horror. (My hometown is my shorthand for the Left — sort of a soft, McGovernite Left.) I would have recoiled too, maybe, age about 16. But now — ahhhh …
