Little Red Lie

The UMass Dartmouth student who claimed he was harassed by Homeland Security agents dressed like the characters in “Men in Black” for requesting Mao’s Little Red Book through Interlibrary Loan has confessed he made the whole story up. The account had energized the paranoid left, and was even referenced publicly by Senator Ted Kennedy. Note that it was not reporters who dug out the truth but one of the Professors who was lied to. An interesting line in this account: “Had the student stuck to his original story, it might never have been proved false.” Makes you wonder how many other tall tales are circulating around the anti-war left. Meanwhile I received an ILL copy of Douglas Pike’s The Viet Cong Strategy of Terror — from the Pentagon library!!! (Cue Theremin music)
