Well, it only took until (nearly) June: Last night, at the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, Maryland, I yelled (twice) at the top of my lungs (or the 11 P.M. equivalent): “John McCain for President!”
What occasioned the outburst was Duran Duran longtime bassist John Taylor’s trendy Che-like Obama t-shirt. The British 80s band came back to the stage at their concert last night to perform “Rio” as an encore and John made his return with the t-shirt.
(I use “John,” because DD were the Beatles of the 80s, naturally.)
The display was disappointing coming after a moving belated Memorial Day dedication of “Ordinary World” by Simon Le Bon to the families of fallen soldiers. No politics. Just humanity.
But, hey, I guess that’s what we’re supposed to think Barack Obama is, right? Hope. Change. What’s politics got to do got to do with it?
