Dava Sobel, author of Longitude, has lots of fans. Many also apparently frequent The Corner.
Let me be clear: I love longitude as much as anyone. My earlier posting about Nancy Pelosi’s longitudinal acclamations – and wondering what sort of commentary similar remarks by Bush would have prompted – prompted several readers to assert that her remarks weren’t “stupid” or “moronic.”
Hmmm, I didn’t say they were, but the obvious assumptions may further my point. In any case, what caught my attention wasn’t Pelosi’s interest in navigational esoterica, but rather her, um, Bushian syntax.
I think we could all use a little latitude here.
