Look Who’s Telling Us That ‘Character Matters’ Now

In theory, all of us who would prefer to see someone else besides Donald Trump be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee should welcome every convert and new ally, and every Republican official who once supported Trump but now wants someone else.

But sometimes the sudden reversals get a little rich.

Mo Brooks? That Mo Brooks, the Alabama Republican congressman who said, “this is the worst election theft in the history of the United States. And if there was a way to determine the Electoral College outcome using only lawful votes cast by eligible American citizens, then Donald Trump won the Electoral College,” who won Trump’s endorsement, lost Trump’s endorsement, and then tried to get it back again is now telling the rest of us that character matters?

The guy who wore body armor while addressing the rally on January 6?

The guy who told the crowd on that infamous day, “Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass! Now, our ancestors sacrificed their blood, their sweat, their tears, their fortunes and sometimes their lives … Are you willing to do the same? My answer is yes. Louder! Are you willing to do what it takes to fight for America?”

He’s warning us that character matters?

Hey, thanks, pal. We never would have figured that out without you.
