Lost Trek

From Lileks:

1. Agreed about the “Lost” bit about buying daddy’s company; I expected

the theme from “The Young and the Restless” to start after that scene, and

fade into a commercial for Massengil.

For heaven’s sake, who thinks of Will Decker before Matt Decker? That’s

like being asked to name a captain and coming up with Janeway before Kirk.

Of course, in a parallel universe, Matt Decker did not give his life in

vain; he ended up in Southern California in the 90s, married to the woman

who was the consort of evil Kirk in the bearded-spock-dimension.

I’m pretty sure you know what I’m talking about, which is why I mention

all this.

But you might not be aware of Star Trek: New Voyages, a homebrew show that

recast the original crew and made new episodes of TOS. (It’s one of two

such fan-generated shows; the other is  Starship Exeter, is done by some

people in Texas, one of whom is the brother of my paper’s mailroom guy.

Big galaxy, small world.)  (http://www.starshipexeter.com)

New Voyages not only built the set of the Enterprise bridge, they got D.

C. Fontana to write an episode, and Walter Koenig AND William Windom, the

original Matt Decker from “The Doomsday Machine,” reprised their roles.

You can find it on YouTube. Of course.  Or at
