Readers are invited to find the logic, if any, behind Norman Mailer’s answer to the following question in the new Vanity Fair:

Who are your heroes in real life?

So few.  FDR, JFK.  Also, de Gaulle and Castro; yes, one must put up with the worst of these two, but they were heroic in their day.  Heroism may be of greater value to civilization than political achievement.
