Manchin: Nobody Should Have to Buy a More Expensive, Worse Plan Than He Had Before

Democratic senator Joe Manchin, who has suggested delaying the Affordable Care Act’s entire individual mandate for a year, explained why he opposes it — he doesn’t believe that Americans should be forced into more-expensive or lower-quality plans. “Those things have to be worked out,” he explained. “It has to be affordable.”

Manchin was confident the ACA’s problems can be fixed: ”If you work through this in a transition period,” he said, “I think you can.”
