Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush Respond to NR’s #AgainstTrump Editorial

Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush, in separate appearances on Fox News this morning, reacted to National Review’s #AgainstTrump editorial and symposium with praise for NR and critiques of Donald Trump’s conservative bona fides.

Rubio, when pressed on the appropriateness of NR’s editorial responded:

“I’m a very big admirer of National Review, but I haven’t read that edition — I guess it’s the new one — but I would say two things: One, I don’t think Donald is running as a movement conservative, I don’t think he’s ever said that. It’s clear he’s not.”

“Donald Trump needs to defend why he was supportive of Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton, why he gave money to the [Clinton] Foundation, why he gave money to her campaign, why he thought Hillary Clinton would be a great negotiator with regards to Iran, why — not that long ago — he was anti-Second Amendment, he we was pro-choice in terms of abortion, why he called for the highest tax increase in American history, all of this within the last decade.”

“This transformation that he claims he’s done, needs to be tested,” Bush concluded.
