Marco Rubio Really Wants to Be the Candidate of Ideas

CBS’s Bob Schieffer asked Florida senator Marco Rubio this morning why he wants to be president — and his answer, which echoed a number of themes from his candidacy announcement earlier this week, makes it pretty clear that he’s going to try to position himself as an ideas guy, serious on policy and with a big, positive vision. That may sound like a no-brainer, but it’s a contrast with some of the other GOP candidates — Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, for instance, who don’t have the comprehensive set of policy ideas Rubio does — and Hillary Clinton, who has said next to nothing about her policy vision or what ideas will animate her candidacy.
