Daniel Ricketts, 50, of Albany County, N.Y., died this Saturday after being nearly decapitated by a booby trap he set to protect the marijuana he was growing on his property. According to the police, Ricketts was driving an ATV through his property last Saturday when he ran into a thin wire set around his four large marijuana plants. Ricketts was then almost decapitated by the wire and died of the injuries. The police are continuing to investigate; it seems that the wire would only have been dangerous for someone driving an all-terrain vehicle or motorcycle.
The wire, about the size of a piano string, was not the only fortification surrounding the marijuana plants – Ricketts also set up barbed wire and a leg trap commonly used to catch coyotes.
