Mario Cino Is Credibly Pro-life

I was surprised to see Maggie Gallagher’s post, “Is Maria Cino Credibly Pro-life?”

Maria is pro-life. Those who know her personally or have worked with her over the past twenty years know that — without question. Maria is a devout Catholic and a conscientious defender of the Church’s teachings on abortion and other anti-infanticide matters.

As someone born in 1973, the year of Roe v. Wade, I have spent a lifetime as a pro-life activist. After working for Phyllis Schlafly in St. Louis, a desire to work on life issues drove me to move to D.C. where I began work for Morton Blackwell. During my time in Washington, I have gotten to know Maria extremely well and have developed a great deal of respect for her devotion to her faith and her party.

My husband and I think so much of her leadership on these important issues that we asked her to be the godmother to our oldest son. In doing so, we knew that her values were squarely aligned with our values and those of our faith.

We pro-lifers need to defend the unborn and call out the public officials who would not. What I cannot figure out is why we sometimes beat up on our own. I’m sure Maggie Gallagher would have come to a different and more accurate conclusion if she had taken the time to reach out to Maria or those who have know her mind and heart on life issues.

While Maria has defended life, she has also been wise to the ways of Washington. As a Republican party official, Maria has worked tirelessly to defeat liberals and their anti-life agenda at every level of government.

The only way to enact a conservative, pro-life agenda in Washington is to build on the success of this past election and broaden and deepen the conservative Republican majority. Maria has devoted 20 years of her life to leading the effort to achieve Republican victories. At this critical juncture, we should recognize her talents and her devotion to the conservative agenda and support her in her effort to become the next chair of the Republican National Committee.
