Re: Dennis Prager’s and my observations on public swearing, this chap helpfully explains:

The preening ponce thinks people swear out of affectation? Why is he being so obtuse? People call Mark Steyn a lying c********r because…they really, really hate him, and with good reason.

Oh, well, that’s okay then. As it happens, Karl Rove addressed this issue the other day:

“My point is not that liberals swear publicly more often than conservatives. That may be true, but that’s not my point,” Mr. Rove said. “It is that the netroots often argue from anger rather than reason, and too often, their object is personal release, not political persuasion.”

As to whether liberals swear publicly more than conservatives, here’s some statistical analysis.
