Martin O’Malley Is the Only Democrat Willing to Really Criticize Hillary

Sure, former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley is at only four percent among Democrats… er, in his home state. But tonight he might be the only candidate on stage who’s willing to throw a metaphorical punch at Hillary Clinton.

He’s hit her on her Wall Street fundraising and exceptionally well-compensated speeches to places like Goldman Sachs: “Her closeness with big banks on Wall Street is sincere, it’s heart-felt, long-established and well known.”

He’s slammed her for flip-flopping: “I was against the Keystone pipeline and came out against it nearly a year ago. Secretary Clinton has only now come out against it after bobbing and weaving and giving non-answers for most of this campaign. That’s not leadership.”

He described her as “a specialist at vaguely saying things.”

He said the media and Republicans are asking “legitimate questions” about Hillary’s private, unsecure e-mail server. He often reminds television viewers that the FBI is investigating the matter.

Sure, he’s a down-the-line progressive with an abysmal record in Baltimore and Maryland as a whole. But give O’Malley credit: he sees the same shameless opportunist, the same relentless, soulless ambition in Hillary Clinton that you do, and he’s not afraid to say so.
