Masculinity, Responsibility and Attraction, In Less Than Five Minutes

If you had said to me a week ago, “Jim, a video featuring you entitled ’The Sexiest Man Alive’ will have more than 170,000 views on YouTube after one day,” I would have said… man, this is one surreal week.

I know this will shock you, but the video isn’t arguing that I’m the sexiest man alive; it’s put together by the good folks at Prager University and uses the book I co-wrote with Cam Edwards, Heavy Lifting, as a jumping-off point for a discussion of what actually makes a man attractive in a woman’s eyes. Surveys, research, and anecdotes conclude that women yearn for men they can count on, who embody a sense of masculine responsibility.

Quite a few folks really like the video… and plenty don’t like it, too.

And yes, I know that at the end I said “THE National Review,” instead of “National Review.” Either I’m turning into Ron Burgundy, reflexively reading whatever’s on the teleprompter in front of me, or I’ve been hanging around too many people from THE Ohio State University lately.
