Matthews: Boehner ‘Pissant’ to Blame Divided Government

Chris Matthews is set to interview President Obama on Thursday evening, but he’s prepping for it by going after John Boehner. The MSNBC host took issue with the speaker’s comments that divided government was the reason for Congress’s lack of action.

“Boehner’s wrong: Divided government is not an excuse for doing nothing,” Matthews said on Morning Joe on Thursday. “This is just pissant to blame this failure of our government to move.”

“You’ve got to learn be a grown-up,” he added. He argued that the federal government is usually divided to some extent, with one party controlling at least the White House, Senate, or the House.

Matthews said he hoped to be able to bring up this issue with the president during tonight’s interview at American University.
