“Maybe It Wasn’t Communicated Very Well…”

On The Today Show, in an interview with Ann Curry, Laura Bush might have just given the best defense of Alberto Gonzales on the U.S. attorneys I’ve heard from anyone in the administration. The firings were perfectly legal and appropriate — in the administration’s “purview” to do — but the explanations were botched. She said it with confidence and honesty and pretty simply. Highlights to me how easy it could have been to do this right from the beginning.
