McCain and the Media

A Republican strategist who has backed a candidate other than McCain was complaining to me that “the media doesn’t cover him as a candidate; they cover him as the hero of an epic.” That’s true. But the media that matter most in Republican primaries hate McCain. If McCain loses the nomination, the trash-talking of talk radio’s importance that his supporters have been doing over the past week will be part of what went wrong.
