There is lots of talk about how McCain might be hurting himself by his persistent call for more troops, even as support for the war declines. I kind of doubt it will–if the war really goes south, he will be able to say he had a better idea for waging it right from the beginning. Personally, I think his support for higher troop levels has been far-sighted and courageous–McCain at his best.
