Senator John McCain (R., Ariz.) apologized to his Republican Senate colleagues for calling them “wacko birds.”
Following Rand Paul’s (R., Ky.) 13-hour filibuster over the government’s drone policy last week, McCain lashed out at Paul and Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas), who also participated in the filibuster.
McCain called his comments “inappropriate” and said that even though he disagrees with Paul and Cruz, he respects their positions “in an ongoing debate . . . about the role of the United States in the world.”
