As details emerge on the latest arrests made in the Boston Marathon bombing investigation, John McCain said on Fox News this afternoon that Congress may need to look deeper into who the United States lets in and what countries they come from.

“Maybe as part of overall immigration reform we should look at the process of who’s allowed into this country,” said McCain, who is a member of the Gang of Eight, “under what circumstances, what is their situation and background, particularly from countries that have histories such as Dagestan and Chechnya and others where there’s been significant influence of radical Islamic extremism.”

“I think that might be appropriate as we move forward with immigration reform,” he added.

Three suspects were arrested and charged today for obstructing the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombing. McCain noted that two of the suspects, Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakova, are citizens of Kazakhstan.
