McCain: Rand Paul’s ‘Political Stunt’ ‘Was Simply False’

On the floor of the Senate this morning, Senator John McCain chastised Senator Rand Paul for yesterday’s filibuster. He insisted that Senator Paul was misrepresenting the drone policy of the United States, and that there was no reason to claim that the government was claiming the right to wantonly kill Americans sitting at a cafe in the United States. He quoted a warning from the Wall Street Journal that if Senator Paul “wants to be taken seriously, he needs to do more than pull political stunts to fire up impressionable libertarian kids in their college dorms. He needs to know what he’s talking about.” Senator McCain was also disappointed with his “colleagues . . .who know better” who joined Rand Paul during his filibuster to “voice [a] concern which is totally unfounded.”
