I don’t think fear of picking a rich person–whether Romney or Whitman or anyone else–should enter into McCain’s calculations. If McCain offers a middle-class tax cut, that’ll drown out talk about the ticket’s net worth. If he doesn’t, he’s making a mistake bigger than a rich veep pick anyway.
