McCain Threatens to Filibuster Hagel Nomination

As Bob reports below, Oklahoma senator Jim Inhofe tells National Review Online that he will not put a hold on Chuck Hagel’s nomination.

But that may not resolve Hagel’s troubles, because Senator John McCain may be backing off his opposition to filibustering the nomination, according to Politico

McCain is now waiting to see whether the White House will respond to a letter requesting more information about Obama’s “actions and orders” the night of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

“We are hoping to get an answer to a simple question,” McCain told POLITICO.

When pressed about whether he would vote in favor of allowing a vote on Hagel, McCain said he is undecided.

“I am awaiting the answer to see whether they are going to answer or not, then I will decide,” McCain said.

McCain pal Lindsey Graham over the weekend called for delaying confirmation of both Hagel and John Brennan until the Obama administration provides answers to key questions about the Benghazi attack. “No confirmation without information,” Graham said.
