I could not be more excited to announce that we’ve started a new podcast, The McCarthy Report. The idea, new and still unfolding, is that Rich and I will kick around the latest developments in the story that has dominated the news for nearly two years: “Russia-gate,” its attendant -gates (FISA, Spy, etc.), and all the twists and turns of special counsels, indictments, impeachment chatter, inspectors general, investigating the investigators, stonewalling Congress, recusals, redactions, and recriminations.
NR podcasts are terrific — I started a while back with Kevin and Charlie on Mad Dogs and Englishmen, and I’m hooked on just about all of them. We’ll do our best to keep it worthy of such company — interesting, fair, and even fun.
In Episode One, we focus on this week’s kerfuffle over presidential self-pardons, and the conversation expands to remind us of the genius of the Framers — executive power, political-versus-legal remedies for presidential misconduct, and even an answer for what would really happen if, to borrow my old boss Rudy Giuliani’s harrowing example, a president shot someone dead in broad daylight.
