McConnell on ‘Shovel-Ready’

This comes along from the office of Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, in response to President Obama’s admission that he discovered too late that there is no such thing as “shovel-ready” public works projects:

“Last year, the White House rushed a Stimulus bill through Congress promising a surge in ‘shovel-ready’ jobs that the President now says didn’t exist. They said we needed to borrow the trillion dollars it cost the taxpayers to keep unemployment from rising above 8%. Well, more than a year later unemployment is hovering around 10%. All told, we’ve lost nearly 4 million jobs since the President was sworn in. Americans are tired of their tax dollars being spent on more government. They want new solutions that actually enable the economy to recover.”
