MCRI Looking Good

With about 20 percent of Michigan precincts reporting, Democrats are

comfortably ahead in races for governor and senator.  Yet the

Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (banning race, “gender,” and ethnic

preferences) is comfortably in the lead, 62 percent to 38

percent.  If, as it seems (given the results so far for governor and

senator), this result is not overly representative of Republican

districts, prospects for MCRI look good.  It’s still too early to

tell for sure, but passage of the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative

would be a huge win for conservatives, effectively putting a major

national issue (that seemed to have been lost in the Supreme Court)

back on the table.  Again, it’s still too early to tell.  But so far,

MCRI is looking good.
