Mea Culpa

In a post last week to this blog, I mistakenly wrote that House Republicans had won on a “motion to recommit,” when in fact they had won on a “motion to instruct” the members of the House-Senate conference committee. The broad point was that Democrats clearly believe the earmark issue has legs, because so many of them voted for this Republican motion.

It is an important parliamentary distinction that most people might not recognize, but Politico’s John Bresnahan spotted my error. My apologies — a correction has been made.
