If you have the time, you will not be sorry you read Cheney’s speech, here. The contrast with Obama’s is great — even dismayingly great. Here are, indeed, two contrasting visions of what is right and wrong.
Back in January, I was part of a session with Cheney, which I recounted here. I ended with a little paean to Cheney — which, acknowledging his running mate, concluded,
“Most people — including many Republicans and conservatives — are happy to see the backs of Bush and Cheney. The thought of their leaving, replaced by those who are replacing them, makes my blood run cold. This is true especially where the world, and all its dangers, are concerned. I hope I’m wrong.”
Well said. (Oh, wait, I can’t say that . . .)
