Media Moment

On The Today Show this morning, I’m told, Andrea Mitchell declared that President Ford “was ahead of his time” on social issues, especially abortion (he was pro).

My Today-watcher has a different take:

I remember my Catholic parents voting for Carter because he said he did not personally support abortion. Ford also gave us Justice John Paul Stevens.

The Republican who was ahead of his time in 1976 was Reagan, and he proved it in 1980.
