The New York Times has a very silly piece on how single women are frustrated with the fact that men are few and far between in self-improvement courses—tennis, wine-tasting, etc. (note to struggling single men in New York: take classes!).  The blurb for the article reads, “It’s difficult to find a man in a course, since men think they know it all already, or should.” Now, no matter what you think of the validity of that statement (the article provides only a couple of quotes to back it up), that’s a pretty big generalization.  Would the Times have been willing to publish a similarly broad, dismissive statement about women, for example, or some minority group?  Somehow I doubt it.
