Meyerson on a Dem majority in the House

Here’s his take on what they would do. Here’s a potential silver-lining: “At the same time, the ranking House Democrats in military matters — Pennsylvania’s John Murtha and Missouri’s Ike Skelton — might seek to increase the size of the Army, which the Iraq war has shown to be stretched to its limits.” Except does anyone believe Democrats would actually fund a larger military? And Meyerson leaves out what would probably be the biggest item on the agenda–passing the Senate amnesty bill, which Bush would sign. It’s too bad Bush is on the wrong side of this issue, because amnesty would be a powerful issue to add at the national level to the Republican pair this election season of national security and taxes. In fact, it might have more bite at the moment than both those issues (certainly more than taxes).
