Michael Steele’s Speaking Fees

This story hasn’t gotten much attention around here, maybe because of its timing. But it really is ridiculous that Michael Steele is making big bucks as a speaker while serving as chairman of the RNC. Strengthening the party ought to be his full-time job. If it doesn’t pay enough for him to keep a roof over his family, then raise his pay. The current arrangement seems likely to create all kinds of problems. For example, does Steele have an incentive to make provocative comments on TV in order to boost demand for himself as a speaker? Come to think of it . . .
