Rep. Michele Bachmann is being criticized for describing actions of the Obama administration as “gangster government.” Again with the heated right-wing Tea Party rhetoric!
Two things about that:
1. On the less important and still significant question of style, it is worth noting that Representative Bachmann is being criticized by Democrats who lustily applauded as their fellow partisans paraded around Madison with signs bearing the name and likeness of Adolf Hitler, to whom they compared Wisconsin’s governor, even as other Democratic enthusiasts called for his murder. Which means that Democrats can pretty much shut their pieholes for the next twenty years when it comes to questions of rhetorical excess.
2. On the more important question of substance, she’s right: Example. Example. Example. Example.
