Many think a third-party bid by Bloomberg would be more damaging to the Democratic nominee than to the Republican one. Yes, Bloomberg ran as a Republican in 2001, but that was mostly because of the lack of competition on that side. He’s the country’s most deep-pocketed, relentless advocate of gun control, the large-soda-banning face of the nanny state, and the man who declared, “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven, I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”
