Jonah, your correspondent says I took a shot at Bush over the issue. Maybe my memory is failing me, but I don’t remember saying anything. I may well, however, have underestimated the impact of those initiatives on candidates, one of a string of political misjudgments on my part over the last two years. (Which, at least, weren’t as bad as those of the Republican party.)
